Online survey on the situation of the local press in Germany

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) has commissioned DIW Econ GmbH to study the current situation of the local German press.

The study aims to create a comprehensive picture of the local German press and, in particular, to analyze the challenges and opportunities arising from increasing digitization. In addition, the study will evaluate the extent to which current developments are endangering the diversity of the press and opinions and whether a need for state support can be derived from this. Finally, the study will examine which government funding measures could effectively support the local German press and thus also press and opinion diversity.

To depict the local press’s situation in all facets, we are dependent on your support and would therefore like to ask you to complete the following online questionnaire.

Participation in the survey is possible from March 15 to April 15, 2022. The questionnaire is designed dynamically and adapts flexibly to the information you provide, particularly the press products your publishing house publishes (newspapers, advertising journals, magazines, digital offerings, etc.).

It should take no more than about 15 to 20 minutes of your time to complete.

To help you find the right contact person in your company, if necessary, you will find an overview of the most important question categories below.
