Dr Markus M. Grabka is head of the Division Knowledge Transfer and Training and researcher in the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at DIW Berlin. His research interests include personal income and wealth distribution and income and wealth mobility, the development of the Cross-National Equivalent File (CNEF) and the field of health economics. He was involved in the 1st to 5th Poverty and Wealth Report of the Federal Government, regularly prepares expert reports for the German Council of Economic Experts and the OECD in the field of personal income distribution. He has extensive experience in working on third-party funded projects (funded, e.g. by the German Research Foundation, Leibniz Association, Hans Böckler Foundation, VW Foundation, Bertelsmann Foundation, Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Minimum Wage Commission). His work has been published in various international journals, e.g. European Economic Review, Oxford Economic Papers, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Journal of Labor Research and in specialized journals in the field of Distributional Economics (Review of Income and Wealth. Journal of Economic Inequality, Journal of Income Distribution, Empirica, Journal of European Economics, Review of Economics of the Household, Empirical Economics) and Survey Research Methods (Sociological Methods and Research).

Markus Grabka studied sociology and computer science at the Technical University in Berlin and received his doctorate in public health (Dr. p.h.) within the framework of the Research Training Group “Demand-oriented and Cost-effective Health Care” of the German Research Foundation at the Technical University Berlin.
