Clemens Paulsen
Clemens Paulsen is a consultant at DIW Econ. As Head of the Economic Impact and Tourism Practice, he is responsible for regional economics and tourism. In this role, he primarily focuses on the economic spillover effects of research institutions, companies, and industries.
He has led several large-scale research projects and was the lead author of the studies The Economic Impact of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Tourism as an Economic Factor in Berlin – TSA 2023, among others. His methodological focus is on input-output modelling and data analysis using statistical and econometric methods.
He received his degrees in Economics from the University of Leipzig and in Development Economics from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne as part of a double master’s programme. He specialised in applied econometrics, financial policy and development economics. He previously worked in the shipping industry, earning his bachelor’s degree as part of a dual study programme with the company Hapag-Lloyd.
