Integrated Approach for the Development of Climate-Friendly Economies in Central Asia
The overall objective of the project is to support Central Asian (CA) countries in developing a comprehensive policy framework for mitigating climate change and assist them to re-orient their economic development in a low carbon, climate friendly way. In order to achieve this complex goal, the project pursues an integrated approach.
- For each of the non-Annex 1 countries in Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) one NAMA will be developed aiming, which should be approved by the respective government and should be presented to potential donors for financing. For Kazakhstan a Green Growth strategy including a set of MAC curves will be developed. The approach envisages close cooperation with national governments, other relevant stakeholders and local experts.
- Tool kits (blue prints) for model-type concrete program approaches will be elaborated for sectors most relevant in the target countries to accomplish a climate friendly development.
- The relevant regional networks will be strengthened through capacity building, training and the transfer of respective technologies.
